ATTENTION!
This file, KBDBASE.ZIP contains the BETA
KEYBOARD Driver from PCS that will replace the driver included with the Warp 4
Fixpak 13. This driver is BETA and may not work perfectly. Please ensure that
you safely BACKUP the original driver prior to attemtpting installation.
NOTE TO JAPANESE KEYBOARD USERS: This Beta has NOT been tested on the
Japanese keyboard driver for the Ctrl-Alt-Del Commander and we do need someone
using the Japanese version to test this!
We request that you send problem reports or
feedback on any issues raised with this driver to TechSupport@pcs-soft.com
with the subject of "BETA KBDBASE.SYS"
There are several issues that this driver seems to correct, including the
TRAP error. It also has support for the USB Keyboard.
To install this driver you will need a program such as UNZIP or PKUNZIP to
de-compress the file you will download.
There are several items you will need to accomplish prior to unzipping the
new file. Please read and follow these instructions completly. Also, we assume
that you have installed OS2 and the Ctrl-Alt-Del Commander onto the C: drive in
the default directories. Please use your specific drive letters if they are
different. Also, if you modified your CONFIG.SYS to disable the Ctrl-Alt-Del
Commander, please ensure you reverse those changes before restarting your
system! Command examples are shown below the step where necessary.
Download the
KBDBASE.SYS and save in the
\CADCMDR directory (click on the link!)
Step 1.
Open an OS2 window and change to the CADCMDR directory - usually
C:\CADCMDR
CD\CADCMDR<Enter>
Step 2.
Rename the Ctrl-Alt-Del Commander KBDBASE.SYS to KBDBASE.252
REN KBDBASE.SYS KBDBASE.252 <Enter>
Step 3.
NOTE: This step only required if you are experiencing a problem with the
Ctrl-Alt-Del Commander Status Line!
Rename the Ctrl-AltDel Commander CCSLKBD.DLL to
CCSLKBD.252 to disable the mouse "hot-keys" This is a temporary measure that
mostly means that the mouse in a corner pop-up windows will not appear
automatically. This generates an error upon start-up of the Status line, but
this can safely be ignored.
REN CCSLKBD.DLL CCSLKBD.252<Enter>
Step 4.
Un-zip the file "KBDBASE.ZIP" into the CADCMDR directory.
PKUNZIP KBDBASE.ZIP<Enter>
Step 5.
Run the FPFIX command file to repair and backup the original IBM KBDBASE.SYS
in the C:\OS2\BOOT directory. This will check dates and will backup the
original version to KBDBASE.001 ( or .002 .003 .004 as newer versions are
installed!).
FPFIX<Enter>
Step 5a.
If you are using the DEMO version of the Ctrl-Alt-Del Commander, you do not
have all the maintenance tools included in the RETAIL version. You will need to
manually copy for KBDBASE.SYS to the OS2\BOOT directory.
CD\OS2\BOOT<Enter>
REN KBDBASE.SYS KBDBASE.000<Enter>
COPY \CADCMDR\KBDBASE.SYS<Enter>
Note that if there is already a KBDBASE.000 you
will need to rename to KBDBASE.001
Step 6.
Exit the OS2 window, shut down any other running applications are restart
your system. You did remember to fix any previous changes to the CONFIG.SYS,
didnīt you?
