I use Blackout screensaver and every time I activate the full-screen CAD Commander 1.x program I cannot get it to accept any key or mouse input. What can I do?
One of our diligent beta testers reported this problem and the solution: Start Blackout with the following command line options:
-m -f
This tells Blackout to "be mouse sensitive" and ignore full-screen OS/2 sessions. It also lets keyboard and mouse input in to the full-screen CAD Commander program.
I have the Japanese version of OS/2 Warp - when is CAD commander 2.x going to support it?
It does now, starting with the 2.5 version of CAD Commander. Just update your system to version 2.5 and follow the detailed instructions for Japanese Warp users.
I purchased Ctrl-Alt-Del Commander 1.2 from one of your resellers. It doesn't work with Bocasoft Wipeout. What can I do?
An update to version of Ctrl-Alt-Del Commander 1.4 is available in the patches section. This update will update version 1.2 to version 1.4 directly and fix the problems.
Does Ctrl-Alt-Del Commander work with other keyboards other then U.S. keyboards (i.e. National Keyboard Layout support)?
Yes! The keyboard driver we provide works flawlessly with any version of Warp, regardless of what language (and codepage) you are using. Japanese Warp customers will need to download the beta version of the AX or 106 keyboard drivers from PCS, but that is the only exception to the standard Ctrl-Alt-Del Commander Keyboard driver not working correctly. The beta version Japanese Warp keyboard driver is expected to go into general release later this summer.
I have a ATI Mach 64 video card with the latest ATI OS/2 drivers and when I press Ctrl-Alt-Del my screen goes black. What's happening?
Ctrl-Alt-Del Commander beta testers with this video card have reported that the latest OS/2 video drivers from ATI do not work properly. If you already use Ctrl-Alt-Del Commander 1.4 and recently updated your video drivers from ATI for the Mach 64 please return to the previous level of the driver and Ctrl-Alt-Del Commander should begin working properly again.
Not all ATI users have reported this difficulty. PCS is researching specifically which driver level is causing the problem and will post it here when that information becomes available. If you are considering using the demonstration version of the Ctrl-Alt-Del Commander just keep in mind that an incompatibility problem MAY occur the first time you press Ctrl-Alt-Del so be sure to close all running programs first.
The very latest driver at the time of this writing (it may be 2.12 - we are still verifying driver levels) has been reported as working correctly. The driver that comes with Warp Connect works correctly. The driver between the two levels has been reported as not working. You can tell if it will work properly if you access a Win-OS/2 full screen session and then use Ctr-ESC to return to the PM desktop. If you do not get video corruption your ATI driver will work.
I tried to get my email with Juno E-mail and I get a trap error. What's the deal?
PCS has been alerted by several users of an incompatibility with the Juno E-mail program and Ctrl-Alt-Del Commander. While we do not believe the problem is directly an error in Ctrl-Alt-Del Commander, we are researching the problem to find out why Juno E-mail would cause this type of failure. Information on this will be posted here when it becomes available.
Does Ctrl-Alt-Del Commander 1.4 or later work with the OS/2 Warp Merlin Beta or Warp 4.0?
Yes! PCS has tested CAD Commander 1.4, CAD Commander 1.5, and CAD Commander 2.x with the OS/2 Warp 4.0 and have found no difficulties whatsoever. We do recommend using CAD Commander 2.5 with Warp 4 to get the latest features of CAD Commander and truly enhance Warp 4. PCS has tested CAD Commander 2.52 with OS/2 Warp 4 up through fixpack 7.
I am using the Japanese version of OS/2 Warp. Why won't the Ctrl-Alt-Del Commander 1.4/1.5 work?
PCS currently has beta drivers available upon E-Mail request that correctly support the AX, 106, and 101 keyboards for the Japanese version of Warp when used with CAD Commander 1.4 or 1.5.
PCS has released a GA version of its CAD Commander 2.5 drivers for the Japanese version of Warp and they are included with the base CAD Commander 2.5 package or update. If you are using the Japanese version of Warp and Ctrl-Alt-Del Commander 1.x just mail us a request and we will send you the drivers and instructions on how to use them. Please include your name, home town, serial number, Ctrl-Alt-Del Commander version number, and your E-Mail address. You must be using Ctrl-Alt-Del Commander 1.4 or later for these drivers to work correctly.
How can I make Ctrl-Alt-Del Commander 1.3 work right with PM Patrol by Wallyware.
Versions prior to 1.31 do not work correctly with PM Patrol. The patch to upgrade to Ctrl-Alt-Del Commander 1.31 is available in the updates section. All versions of CAD Commander after 1.31 work properly.
I have Bocasoft Wipeout installed and then I installed Ctrl-Alt-Del Commander 1.31 or earlier, now my keyboard doesn't work!
Due to an incompatibility between WipeOut and the keyboard driver supplied with Ctrl-Alt-Del Commander 1.31 or earlier, the two products are incompatible. An update to Ctrl-Alt-Del Commander 1.4 is available in the updates section which solves this problem.
I am using Object Desktop** and other WPS extenders, and am having trouble with the Ctrl-Alt-Del Commander working. What can I do?
Ctrl-Alt-Del Commander Version 1.0 and 1.1 have known difficulties when used with multiple desktop enhancement products. All versions after CAD Commander 1.1 (including 2.x) work correctly. The following is the correct solution:
|
|
 |
Download the CC12UPDT.ZIP from this Web Site and apply the patch to bring the Ctrl-Alt-Del Commander up to version 1.2. |
|
Adjust the PROTSHELL=x:\CADCMDR\CADC MDR.EXE to have /PMQ=40 on the command line as shown here:
PROTSHELL=C:\CADCMDR\CAD CMDR.EXE /PMQ=40 |
|
|
|
Shutdown and reboot your system. It should now work correctly.
I tried the preceding solution and it still doesn't work. What can I do now?
Try the following steps:
|
|
 |
Restore the original PROTSHELL=x:\OS2\PMSHELL.E XE in your CONFIG.SYS. |
|
Add the following line to your STARTUP.CMD file:
START /FS /B x:\CADCMDR\PKM_DMN.EXE /DIR=x:\CADCMDR |
|
Shutdown and reboot your system. |
|
Contact PCS using the Report Form and provide a description of your problem including what WPS extenders you are using and a copy of your CONFIG.SYS. We will see if we can find a solution as quickly as possible. |
|
|
|
The above solution will give only partial functionality (setting application priorities and forcing a shutdown of OS/2 will be disabled).
We have noticed on some versions of Warp (specifically FP10) that using the ExtendedDesktop by Dan Campbell of IBM (which is a fine product) that the Ctrl-Alt-Del Commander does not always function correctly and can cause a desktop hang during bootup. It does work properly with Warp Fixpack 17, however. Either use the method described above or uninstall the desktop extender.
