IPF Editor 2.x Creating Hypertext Links Questions and Answers
Why can't I hypertext link to some panels in the Panel List?
The only panels which don't support hypertext linking are panels without a res attribute. If you wish to add a res attribute simply open the Panel Settings Notebook and turn to the "Options" page. Then select the "Create ID" (or "Select ID" in an online help document) push button to generate a proper res attribute. The panel is now linkable.
Why can't I overlay Hypergraphics Links?
IPF Hypergraphics linking requires that each link on an artwork picture not overlay any other hypergraphics link. This prevents the problem of IPF not knowing which panel to link to when a user selects a location in the overlapping areas.
Can I create Hypertext links without using a mouse?
This is easily done by marking the text in the Panel Editing window and then pressing + to return to the Panel List. Use the arrow keys to move to the panel to link to the marked text. Then press the + keys to display the Panel List popup menu. Select the "Link to marked text" menu item and the link will be inserted. Press + to return to the Panel Editing window.
Why doesn't the Automatic Hypertext linking create links to every panel?
The "Application, Generate auto-hypertext links" can only generate links from text to panels that have res attributes. Since the hypertext linking in IPF requires a res or name or id to create the hypertext link the automatic hypertext linking requires a res value to create the link. You can create a res attribute for any panel by going to its "Panel Settings Notebook" and turning to the "Options" page. Then press the "Create ID" push button to create a unique res attribute and name attribute.
I've Installed OS/2 Warp 3.0 Fixpack # 9 and now I have trouble with hypertext links!
We have discovered what appears to be a bug when there is more than one hypertext link on a single line and you try to select the second one with your mouse. The left-most hypertext link is activated. There is no direct solution except to install the HELPMGR.DLL from OS/2 Warp With Win-OS/2 in your OS2\DLl directory. (This seems to occur with OS/2 Warp Fixpack # 10, too).
